FOUNDATION
Alebtong Foundation is a humanitarian organization working with rural communities in Alebtong District in Northern Uganda. We are located within Abako Sub-County, in the parish of Amononeno. This area is predominantly rural, which is concomitant with Uganda’s population statistics of 80% of people living in rural areas. Alebtong District covers an area of 174 Km sq, with a population of about 270,000 people. The main activity in the district is rudimentary subsistence agriculture.
Our work is premised on empowering marginalized rural communities as the best way to maximize impact and to create sustainable change. We firmly believe in the need to be physically present, in the rural communities that we serve. The foundation employs a hybrid model that locates the bulk of the Foundation’s activities at the grass-root level within the rural communities.
ALEBTONG FIELD OFFICE
The Foundation firmly believes in the need to locate project activities within the community. We are committed to apply a community-inclusive approach in all our activities. Our operational and project implementation arm is located in Abako Sub-county Alebtong District. This office covers the following sub-counties: Aloi, Alebtong, Amugu, Abako, Abia, Apala, Akura, Awei, and Omoro. Some of the activities planned and carried out through the field office includes:
- Community Library
- Vocational Skills Hub
- Mon-Weng Empowerment Programme
- Agriculture, Livestock and livelihood Programme
- Early Childhood Centre and
- Girls Bursary Scheme.
Kampala Support Office
The Foundation maintains a small support office in Kampala, which assists with logistics and operational support. Its role while minimal in direct activities cannot be underscored as it contributes significantly to several indispensable functions, including represents the Foundation in all activities located in the Capital. This office is staffed by volunteers working in shift. The main functions of this office includes:
- Logistical, Administrative an Operational support to the field
- Volunteer Orientation
- Resource Mobilization (1 Volunteer Grants Officer is based here)
- Rapport Building
- Representation o relevant authorities.

Alebtong Foundation values a culturally appropriate approach that is premised on mutual respect of rural communities, service-driven perspective that is responsive to community needs and is inclusive through listening.
Our innovation efforts are targeted at sustainable and scalable solutions that for low-resource settings.

We’re Raising $100,000 to strengthen and support economic development for marginalized rural communities.
Our resource mobilization approach is directed at addressing and alleviating critical problems facing rural communities. Alebtong Foundation explores the use of innovative healthcare delivery models to reduce health care barriers and inequalities. We also seek impactful collaborations to enhance the empowerment of women and girls, and to encourage them to pursue their dreams.
